Growing, Sharing and Uniting God's People

Meigs Cooperative

RADICAL HOSPITALITY:
This ministry reaches out to everyone regardless of color, race, gender, creed and the deserved and undeserved in society. It welcomes people of all ethnic, religious and socio-economic backgrounds, especially focusing on those in poverty lifestyles that are often overlooked in society. PASSIONATE WORSHIP: The Meigs Cooperative Parish provides combined, special ecumenical services throughout the year such as Lenten Services, a Thanksgiving Service and others. It also provides Hymn Sings on the fifth Sundays during the year. It houses the God’s Neighborhood Escape for Teens Youth Ministry which provides a weekly evening worship service for all people called the "Sunday Evening Blessing." NURTURING FAITH RELATIONSHIPS: We work ecumenically with other churches on spiritual issues. The Meigs Cooperative Parish provides hymn sings, Christian concerts, Christian educational materials at no charge, seminars to assist laity and pastors in improving and expanding ministry, cluster groups and supporting volunteers physically and spiritually as they help in ministry. Pastors are available for counseling those in need. RISK TAKING FOR MISSION, SERVICE AND JUSTICE: We are often seen as a liaison for families when they are in need and must work within the governmental systems. The Parish Nurse provides assistance to the elderly and families to help with navigating new governmental regulations in healthcare. In addition, the Meigs Cooperative Parish provides volunteers, those who are served and those who wish to serve, with an opportunity to serve in the local mission area of Meigs County through food giveaways, outreach ministries, building maintenance, community work and fundraising. Meigs Cooperative Parish desires to break the bonds of poverty by helping with incubation business programs, life skills education and mentoring.
