Mulberry Community Center
The Meigs Cooperative Parish has been a community presence for 35 years and is always looking for new ways to minister. In September 2003, the Meigs Cooperative purchased the former Pomeroy Elementary School and transformed it into the Mulberry Community Center in order to meet the needs of our community more fully. Amidst on-going renovations, the Mulberry Community Center has evolved into a multi-purpose complex that houses many ministries, including:
- The Parish Shop - A resale clothing store to provide good quality clothing at inexpensive prices
- God’s Hands - A group that specializes in carpentry repairs and building ramps for those in need
- Comfort Club - A group that makes comforters for those experiencing home disasters and heating needs
- Food Pantry - A food pantry that offers up to two emergeny food giveaways per year and three specialized food giveaways per year during high need times
- Faith Community Parish Nurse Program - A program designed to help facilitate healing to the whole person: mind, body and spirit
- Walking Path - An indoor, supervised walking path
- Community, Commerical Kitchen - A commercial kitchen that can be used for building economic growth by supporting new food-based businesses
- Meigs Cooperative Administrative Offices
Within the Mulberry Community Center, two other non-profit organizations help meet the needs of the community thus supporting the vision of the Meigs Cooperative Parish:
New Horizons Child Enrichment Center is an early childhood educational and enrichment center for children ages 3-5 desiring a Christian-based education.
God's Neighborhood Escape for Teens Youth Center (God's N.E.T.) is an outreach to youth that offers food, special events, activities and mentors to help the youth of the community learn to live Christian lives.
